SHARON – Sharon Credit Union kicked off its year-long free financial education series for local residents and businesses in April with two free First-time Home Buyer seminars.  Attendees at the Home Buyer seminars learned the process of purchasing a home from start to finish.  In May, local realtors were given the opportunity to earn continuing education credits at the Fair Housing and Investment Property Basics seminars held at the Credit Union’s Corporate Office.  Also in May, attendees of the “Secure Your Retirement Seminar” learned how to maximize their social security benefits in retirement.

“We believe that providing financial education should be part of what we do as a community partner and leader.  We have the right products and services in place, but sometimes people need more than that to achieve their financial goals and dreams.  They may need information, a plan, or even some guidance along the way.  Providing people with opportunities to learn and network can only help contribute to more financial success for all,” said Sharon Credit Union President James Carlson.

The Credit Union will be hosting several more seminars in 2016 as well as adding webinars to the mix.  In the fall, seminar topics that will be covered include preparing for college admissions, retirement distributions, estate planning, understanding credit and scores, preventing elder abuse, and more.
