SCU Credit Union Celebrates World Kindness Day

Last year, we reached out to our members asking them to share local organizations that are doing great work in their communities. The response we got was tremendous, and we were able to directly support the organizations you see below. Just by being a member of SCU Credit Union, you are contributing to helping those in need in the community you live in. How cool is that?

And we want to continue this program this year. For World Kindness Day, please nominate an organization in your community that you think deserves support. Repeats from last year are okay, since we already know how wonderful these organizations are! Thank you, and remember to choose kindness every day!

We appreciate all the applications received. We will be in touch with the selected organizations soon.

About last year's donation recipients:

Arc of Greater Brockton

The ARC of Greater Brockton is a non-profit organization that offers direct services for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and autism spectrum disorders. They operate locations in Brockton and Easton and help individuals in the region realize their personal goals.

Children’s Museum of Easton

The Children's Museum in Easton is dedicated to educational, cultural, and social learning for children and families, largely targeted to younger kids and toddlers. It is a wonderful place for kids to explore their creativity in a safe and fun environment.

Circle of Hope

The Norwood Circle of Hope helps Norwood residents who are in need due to severe medical situations. The foundation board is made up of individuals that represent the entire community (schools, medical services, fire departments, etc.). Specifically, they have helped families with rent, mortgage, utilities, food, medical bills, and travel to treatment centers, just to name a few.

ConfiKids

ConfiKids, out of Foxboro, helps pay for kids to participate in a variety of enrichment activities, such as town youth sports, music and art lessons, karate, dance, and gymnastics. Just last year, they helped over 400 kids participate in activities that they otherwise may not have had the opportunity to do so.

Our Open Umbrella

Our Open Umbrella in North Attleboro supports local students in getting clothing, food, and emergency assistance. These services are available to ALL students, with the goal of encouraging apprehensive students to participate by minimizing the stigma many feel when they get help.

Sharon Friends of Conservation

Sharon Friends of Conservation help promote the conservation and restoration of trails and nature within Sharon. They have been around since 1986 and have done wonderful work within the community.

SOWMA

Schools on Wheels of Massachusetts supports the academic, social, and emotional growth of students in Massachusetts who are impacted by homelessness and poverty. Among the many things SOWMA does, they provide tutoring, mentoring, backpacks, and school supplies.

West Side Benevolent Circle

West Side Benevolent Circle of Mansfield helps provide food, clothing, and financial support for those in need. They also provide gifts to children around the holiday season using toys collected from good Samaritans in the community.

Winslow Farms

Winslow Animal Farm Sanctuary, located in Norton, helps house nearly 300 animals that have been abandoned or neglected. The animals include horses, sheep, llamas, alpacas, goats, peacocks, chickens, ducks, geese, donkeys, mules, pheasants, cats, dogs, and emus!
